TRUE STARS OF PAKISTAN

“Life is not to breath, but it is to act”

You might have heard about the people, who are sincere and serving for humanity, But WHO ARE THEY? If u try to count these people, you will hardly find a few among our 17 million populations. Yes, it is true, because it is difficult to become generous and bounteous. It needs your full veneration and dedication toward any good cause.

Among those few people, we have Abdul Sattar Edhi, an active philanthropist, he is also known as the “Angel of mercy”. He grew up in a poor family. He is uneducated. He put up a tent where the Edhi centre is today; he called a few doctors from the Civil Hospital and established 11 mobile dispensaries on the footpaths in Karachi.

He started working for the people from the footpath, and now he is the founder of Edhi Foundation, which is the most trusted name in Pakistan and recognized all over the world. Edhi Foundation is a non-profit organization that has been in the business of providing social services like medical care, emergency services, air ambulances, burial services, mental habitats, old homes, child welfare services, abused women safe houses and training facilities for the disadvantaged.

Abdul Sattar Edhi likes to work alone, he has never taken any money from the Government. He was inspired by the articles, which were in Gujrati. He knew Gujrati because he was born in Gujrat. Those articles actuated him to do something for the people. We should be thankful to God, for sending him in the face Angel.

Another big-name in our society is best known for his political career, charity work, cricket commentator and retired cricketer, he is none other than Imran Khan. Imran khan played for the Pakistani cricket team from 1971 to 1992 and he led Pakistan cricket team to the first and only World cup in 1992.

He is the founder of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf. Imran khan’s inspiration to build the hospital came from the misfortune and suffering of one individual, Shaukat Khanum, the mother of Imran Khan. After his mother’s death, he realized and felt the need of a cancer centre, which would be in approach to everyone, even those who could not afford expensive treatment. Since then he, through worldwide fundraising, established Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, the first and only cancer hospital of international standards in Pakistan.

Shaukat khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Hospital is planning to build another hospital in Karachi. Their projects include Shaukat Khanum Karachi Clinic (Karachi), Shaukat Khanum Peshawar Clinic (Peshawar), Community screening service (Lahore), Shaukat Khanum Diagnostic Centre (Lahore), Shaukat Khanum Diagnostic Centre (Karachi), and 54 Shaukat Khanum Pathology Collection Centre (all over Pakistan). Hospital is also running because of the generous and well wishers, who are supporting this cause.

We have another admirable personality, who is a philanthropist and Doctor as well i.e. Dr. Adibul Hasan Rizvi. He received his MBBS Degree from Dow Medical College. He went to England for his fellowship in Edinburgh and London. He worked there for eight years and then returned to Pakistan to work for pakistanis.

He started working from the Civil Hospital, with eight beds and grew the largest public health sector organization in the country i.e SIUT,which is providing free treatment and modern medical care in urology, nephrology, transplantation and hepato- gastroenterology. According to Dr.Adibul Hasan Rizvi, if you have sensitive mind and you observe things around you, then you respond to those things. It is really true and these things motivate you to do something, which is not yet done by anyone.

If we talk about a trust, which is Zindagi Trust, a renowned name comes infront of us i.e. Shehzad Roy. He is a singer and Humanitarian, he is a president of Zindagi trust, a non profit organization, plying quality education to the underprivileged children of Pakistan. It was established in 2002, with the shehzad’s strong determination, in 2006 they took over a Government school called SMB Fatima Jinnah Government Girls School.

They are providing education by introducing imaginative and thought-provoking text books. Facilities like sports, rowing, photography as well as an outstanding audio-visual room, art room, computer lab and others are provided to the students, so that the children’s hidden talent can make them better individual in the world. Shehzad Roy, by performing in the concerts and with the help of donations given by the people, is running this trust.

In the same way we have Mir Khalil ur Rehman foundation, Abra ul Haq’s “Sahara for Life Trust”, Jawad Ahmed’s “Taleem for All Trust” etc, running in Pakistan. Our Pakistan needs people like them, with full of spirit, strong determination, intention and good volition. If we develop these things in ourselves, we can also make a better society.
